I’ve got the 186cm Goats with Dynafit St Rotations and these are beasts. I’ve got two different touring boots and the ski is definitely a realistic all-mountain rig. When I want to throw my heavy boots on I can do virtually anything on these and when I want to be faster for the uphill they are still light enough for my Dynaifit Radical pros to pull them up and drive em down. I wouldn’t say these are a single quiver ski for me but that is mainly because I am 6’5 and 280lbs so 186 with rockers is a tad short for me but I wouldn’t fault the ski for that. I think if you fall into my height/weight class this is a great ski for almost all variable conditions and then having something a little longer and wider for super deep days is a great combo. That being said if Cardiff were to make these or the Powgodas in a 190 I would be all over them.
Floaty on the downhill, surfy in heavy pow and float great in light pow. Reliable carver on crust, steeps, and hardpack. Light and stable on the uphill. Couldn't ask for anything more
When you open these skis up, they hold incredibly well and are insanely stable at high speed. Yet, they have been a great ski for playful days at Snowbird, popping in/out out of every zone with ease and fun! They’re responsive and playful enough to feel light on your feet and bouncy through the crud and nimble through the trees but when you want to lay some trenches or keep compose through any runout they really hold well!
I’m 5’7” (150lbs) and I’m mounted on Shift 10’s so I had a second touring set up. The package is super light overall, giving me the best of both worlds.
Stoked Cardiff is making skis and if you’re on the fence - don’t hesitate to give these skis a demo.
NAILED IT! Loving this new ski from Cardiff. My new everyday ski for the Wasatch Range. Mounted with a pair of ATK bindings and the setup is super light. The rocker profile is perfect for all types of snow conditions from pow to variable chop. So stoked Cardiff launched skis this year!
When shopping for a ski this season I had 2 major things I needed from the ski. First the skis needed to rip! I needed a ski that could hold edge on variable terrain as well as be the perfect balance between playful and responsive. Second, I didn't want a dump truck of a ski in regards to weight. This has been a battle for me, having to choose weight over ski performance or vice versa. Let me also preface that I ski 60% in-bounds 40% out-of-bounds these days. I landed on the Cardiff Goats, at 108mm wide I found them fun in the pow and still quick enough edge to edge in some tighter glades. The poplar and paulownia wood core paired with sidewall to sidewall carbon stringers creates that responsive but still playful ride. These skis have been an absolute blast so far. It's been hard finding a ski that can handle high speed runouts, smash some groomers and still have somewhat of a soft tip and tail. The Goat is now my go-to jammer. Doesn't matter if I'm unsure of how much snow a storm has left us, these have been there for me regardless if it's a few inches of dust on crust or the 10" of cold smoke blower. If you have a heavier hybrid binding (I use the CAST Touring set up) check out Cardiff skis. You get a lighter build ski that you're still able to smash.
